Hello My name is Albert Russell owner and Operator of Russell's K9 Academy.

I am a Third Generation Dog Trainer.  I have been working with dogs most of my life.  It started out as a hobby learning from my Grandfather and Father and then a dear friend who served in the Military who trained Devil Dogs during the time of the Vietnam War.  I had the privilege of working with him for 2 1/2 years.  Then I started researching Wolves and Wild Dogs.  I came to the understanding that dogs like Wolves have a hierarchy and they also have what I like to call a Universal Language and dogs have a different psychology other than Human Psychology and we have a tendency to  humanize our dogs because we think it's the right way to love and show affection towards our dogs.  So what I do is teach the Human part of the pack on how to communicate to your dog according to it's own psychology and the proper use of it's own Universal Language of dogs.  This is why I do alot of Rehabilitation for dogs because of our misunderstanding of these most important issues.  I've also have worked with many other trainers who's philosophy was not totally correct because their training and teachings came from conventional trainers who certified them as trainers.  Some of these trainers were especially agility trainers who tried to Rehabilitate dogs with aggression and other issues.  An Agility training has no place for aggressive behavior in dogs although I highly recommend Agility training for dogs for basic obedience and developing a personal relationship and bonding with human and dog and it's also great excersise. I also have worked with trainers who use a food reward system called Positive Reinforcement Training.  Food reward system does not work on aggressive issues or domiance possessive agression issues.  Although I do highly support positive reinforcement training because it does have it's place in training for good go lucky dogs who have good communication skills with other dogs. 

My Goal is for people to understand the Universal Language of Dogs and by doing so the training will excel.  My dogs learn their commands, sit,stay,down,heal,hault,backup,place command,boundaries, and they must do each command in a two second time frame also my dogs when they move up in advanced obedience training they learn off leash training and I use little or no food rewards.  My training is totally based on Dog Psychology and the use of the Universal Language of Dogs because I take on the role as their Alpha Pack Leader.

Most of the time when I get called out to a new customer they have already been through 2 or more trainers where they got little or no results or the dog chased them off the property.
